Y1 End of Spring Term 2022

Date: 4th Apr 2022 @ 10:10am

Well, can you believe it?!  Another half term done and dusted and it's almost time for the final summer term.

The children of Year 1 have worked incredibly hard over the past half term and have achieved so much.  Our topic on The Enchanted Wood has given the children the opportunity to use their imaginations and be very creative.  They have learnt about land art (being inspired by a famous sculpture called Andy Goldsworthy), creating their own land art sculptures in our school wooded area.  They have read the story of Hansel and Gretel and have used this to inspire them to write story openings, write character descriptions and instructions of how to make an enchanted woodland crown.  The children were even able to follow these instructions and then went home on Friday, proudly wearing their crowns.

Friday was also a sad day as we said goodbye to our very special classmate and friend Emily Lever who has now left us to go and start a new life with her family on The Isle of Man.  We are hoping to keep in touch via email with her new school so will keep you posted with that!

So, as we break up for the Easter break we just wanted to wish you all a wonderful time, hopefully spending precious time with your families and look forward to seeing you back at school in the next few weeks.

Have a truly wonderful Easter and stay safe x
