Good morning Year 4!

I hope you eased yourself back into work yesterday. Did you start a new book? If you did, you could keep a journal about what you are reading or if you are reading a story from Serial Mash make sure that you answer the online questions after each chapter.

The BBC Bitesize website (https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/tags/z63tt39/year-4-lessons/1) has created daily lessons to keep you on track with your learning. You'll find daily lessons for home schooling in Maths and English for every year group, as well as regular lessons in Science, History, Geography and more. The home schooling lessons have been created with teachers and other educational experts. They feature a mix of videos, animations, practice activities, quizzes and games. I have attached the timetable for this week to this blog for you to have a look at.

If you go to the White Rose Maths website (https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-4/) you will also be able to find daily maths lessons. Each lesson has a short explanation video that you can watch and an activity linked to it that you can complete. You could complete these activities in your exercise books so that you don’t need to print anything off.

I have attached a short comprehension to this blog, it is similar to the comprehension tasks that we look at during our guided reading sessions. Read the text then answer the questions in your exercise book (so that you don’t need to print). I will post the answers tomorrow so you can see how well you did.

Finally, this week is William Shakespeare week. You might want to spend a bit of time finding out about this amazing playwright. The Kid’s Zone of the Shakespeare week website (https://www.shakespeareweek.org.uk/kids-zone/) has lots of stories and activities linked to Shakespeare’s most famous plays that you could have a look at.

Well done to those of you who have been back on Times Tables Rock Stars and have begun to complete the challenges I have set.

Keep up the good work!

I’ll talk to you again tomorrow.

Miss Gradwell

P.S. Keep posting all of the fun things you are doing on the Year 4 Purple Mash blog.
