Hello everyone.

I hope you are all well and enjoyed working on yesterday's activities about refugees. In school, we wrote acrostic poems just like you did. We used words such as 'human', 'running', 'hopeful' and 'refugee'. These words were inspired by a song we listened to, which is all about the life of a refugee. Here is the link if you'd like to listen to the song (we really enjoyed it- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rhfo3oBYDPA). We realised how very lucky we are to live in a safe, secure country with our families. While listening to the song, we completed an empathy activity, like the one below, which was made by HOPE. You can see our final acrostic poems at the bottom of the blog!

Today, I would like you to consider the following question:

If a country is struggling to provide for its own citizens, should it take in refugees?

What I would like you to do is to come up with some pros and cons- maybe you could complete a table split into two columns (yes we should accept them and no we shouldn't). It will really make you think! I would love to know your thoughts after completing this activity: it will be interesting to see how many of you agree / disagree with each oher.

Don't forget to keep up with maths and literacy, too. Keep going with your home learning booklet. In school yesterday, some of us struggled with negative and positive numbers, so I thought I'd post you a little challenge. See if you can work out the answers to these questions.

1. Find the difference between -46 and 183

2. Find the difference between 14 and -27

3. 148-183 =

4. -56 + 177 =

Today's BBC Bitesize lessons look great, again. Here is a little outline of today's work...

Maths: Using substitution to find the possible values of a pair of variables

English: Assonance, onomatopoeia and alliteration in poetry

Geography: The Lake District

Yesterday's riddle:

If you remember, yesterday, I set you a riddle. If you can't remember it, it was as follows...

What is always in front of you but can never be seen?

The answer is... the future!

Did you get it right? I bet lots of you did. Here is today's riddle.

Where can you find cities, towns, shops and streets but no people?

Check back tomorrow for the answer!

I think I've given you enough work to do (for now wink) so I shall leave you to it. I will speak to you all again tomorrow. Stay safe and work hard!
