Good Morning Year 4!

Did you manage to do some exercise yesterday? It hasn’t been as sunny this week so you have probably not been able to spend as much time outside. I hope that some of you enjoyed the Kidz Bop dance videos.

Bronagh, Deacon and Ava have all emailed me their Friends Acrostic Poems and Emily shared hers on the Purple Mash blog. I have attached them to this blog for anyone who would like to read them, I think you will agree that they have all done a fantastic job!

Today’s BBC Bitesize maths lesson is about dividing by 100. Lots of you will find this quite easy as we have had a lot of practise already. If you would like a recap check the PowerPoint that I posted on Tuesday’s blog. I have attached a booklet with a variety of activities focussing on multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 for any of you who would like extra practise.

Today’s English lesson continues building on the dictionary and thesaurus work you have been doing over the last few days. Today is all about synonyms and antonyms.

Synonyms are words with the same or similar meaning. For example, big, large and giant.

Antonyms are words with opposite meanings. For example, happy and sad.

I have attached an activity to this blog that asks you to find synonyms and antonyms for words from the first chapter of Roman Rescue. I hope you are all enjoying the story!

This week is Water Safety Week and as our topis topic this term would have been water I thought I would challenge you to spend some time today and tomorrow finding out about water safety. How much do you know about staying safe by water? Why do you think that it is important to make sure that you stay safe when you are close to water? Once you have researched water safety, create a poster explaining how people can stay safe near water. I have attached a PowerPoint to this blog to help you find out about water safety.

You could also look into the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) as they are a charity who work hard to keep people safe in water and help people who get into trouble in water. I will post more information about this organisation tomorrow.

Chapter eleven of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is available to listen to now. In this chapter you will find out about the wizarding sport Quidditch. Which position do you think you would play?

Keep up the hard work! I will talk to you again tomorrow.
