Teach or Treat Day 2020

Yesterday, we had a great day! We came to school in costumes, had spooky lessons and even watched a scary film with popcorn, juice and a fruit winder snack.

Here is a break down of our day:

Coming into school, we were given a booklet with our activities for the day inside it. This included our maths, literacy and SPaG work, plus some spooky surprises, such as crosswords, wordsearches, colouring sheets and 'I spy' activities.

First was monstrous maths! We answered word problems that were Halloween-related and that fit in with our current topic of addition, subtraction and multiplication.

Next, it was time for spooky SPaG. Mrs Naylor gave us a Halloween poem filled with errors. The errors were all incorrect spelling of homophones. We had to find, count and correct the errors (there were 24!).

After that, it was living-dead literacy time. We completed a character description to warm our brains up, using similes and metaphors. Then, we were shown a picture. The picture was of a peculiar-looking pirate ship, with a number '13' flag, skeletons on board and some strange-looking creatures in cages. We had an in-depth discussion about the picture and then we were given a story starter and had to continue the narrative. We absolutely LOVED this activity and really sunk our teeth into describing the spooky setting and creepy characters.

Once all the work was done, it was time to have some fun! We watched the film 'Hocus Pocus' together, while eating our snacks.

Overall, today was excellent!

Below you can see some photographs of us all dressed up in our fantastic costumes.
