Summer 1- Week 1

Date: 17th Apr 2024 @ 12:57pm

Welcome back everyone!

We discovered with great delight that five of our caterpillars had turned into beautiful butterflies upon our return from the Easter break. On Friday, we anxiously awaited the moment when some butterflies would be ready to spread their wings and fly. We watched them take off with such excitement!

We have also thoroughly enjoyed our first week of our new topic, Space. Beginning our topic, we read author Jill Murphy's  story Whatever Next! In addition to learning everything there is to know about the moon and even about two famous astronauts, Tim Peake and Neil Armstrong, we had a great time acting out the story with props.

Our Level 4 learning in phonics has just begun. We are working hard to read longer words and some new tircky words.

We revised our number bonds up to ten in maths and started exploring three-dimensional shapes! We had a great time building rockets out of 3D shapes, searching for 3D shapes in the water tray and even going on a 3D shape hunt where we took photographs of the shapes around us.

To the Ends of the Earth is our new RE topic, which we started on Friday.  We know that Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit, a new friend, as a gift to the disciples.

We hope that you have a lovely weekend,

The Reception Team
