Spellings (Split Digraphs i-e and o-e) for Mrs McDonald’s Library Phonics Group

Date: 4th May 2020 @ 12:39pm

Hi Y1smiley

Hope you are all well and your families are too!

Before I let you know your spellings for this week, I want to give a big shout out to Ewan, who has been learning all about electricity with what looks like a little help from some Marvel Superheroes!  Ewan must be a superhero himself to do these circuits, as now, since 2014, we only learn about electricity in the juniors!  I also loved your lifecycle of a butterfly, Ewan!

Now for this week’s spellings.  Please learn to read and spell these words that contain the split digraph i-e and o-e rule.

Please find the words that Mrs McDonald’s library phonics group need to learn below:-

Rule – split digraph i-e and o-e

Please note the i-e split digraph makes the long i sound and a letter squashes in between to make the sound after the split digraph.

The o-e split digraph makes the long o sound and a letter squashes in between to make the sound after the split digraph
