Reception News - 18th September

We have been busy bees in Reception this week! The children are really getting to grips with our routines and rules and are settling in fantastically.

Come and See

We have started our Come and See topic, Myself. We have been thinking about the importance of our names. Over the next couple of weeks we will be talking about God’s love for us and love within our families. Could we please have a family photo for our Come and See display. (We can always photocopy and send home originals if you would prefer).

Phonics and Reading

We have also started phonics. We have been playing lots of listening games and will continue to do this throughout the year. Our homework this week is to have a go at some of the listening games (attached below). It’s always good to revisit these games J Next week will begin learning our sounds.

Reading books and yellow reading records will be sent home on Monday. Please have a read of the letter found in your child’s reading record. It provides some suggested questions to ask as your child reads; what to record in their yellow book; as well as when to return books and expect new ones.

We would love to showcase our children’s love for reading in our reading corner so please could we have a ‘get caught reading’ photo of your child. Take a photo of them reading around the house or out and about – be as creative as you’d like!

Important messages!

Thank you for opening your child’s snack packets slightly, they are finding such pride in being able to open their snack by themselves.

Grapes – Please could you cut grapes in half (lengthways) as they are a choking hazard when whole. Thank you.

Eva's  cardigan and Olivia's tracksuit top have gone missing this week, please could you double check they haven't gone home with your child by mistake.
