Christmas comes early to Year 4!

Date: 20th Nov 2020 @ 4:15pm

We have had another busy week in Year 4!

RE

In RE we have spent time thinking about the Confirmation ceremony. We have looked at what happens during the ceremony and we have explored the signs, symbols and actions that you might see during confirmation and the meanings behind them. We have also thought about the role of the Holy Spirit and how it can help guide Christians in their daily lives.

Burps, Bottoms and Bile

We have continued to explore the digestive system this week by looking at the organs and their functions. The children have created very informative models of the digestive system to be displayed on our topic wall in class. Have a look at the pictures below to see the amazing work the children have done. We are also using our knowledge of the digestive system to write non-chronological reports.

Maths

We have begun our multiplication and division topic and the children are impressing me with their times tables knowledge! The boys vs girls Times Tables Rock Stars challenge has proved popular with the girls winning last week and the boys rising to the challenge and winning this week. It is fantastic to see the children taking time to learn their tables!

Christmas came early to Year 4 this week with the arrival of our annual pantomime! It was different to the usual pantomime, but I am sure you have heard that it was just as entertaining as usual. The children enjoyed The Wizard of Oz and clapped and danced along with Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tinman and Lion and booed the Wicked Witch of the West. We will be using the pantomime to inspire our writing over the next few weeks. All the children got into the Christmas spirit in their festive jumpers, hats and headbands, it was a lovely way to kick-start Christmas in school. There are pictures of the pantomime below for you to look at.
