Autumn Term Two Week Four

Date: 25th Nov 2022 @ 11:26am

Hi everyone,

We read the story of 'Little Red Riding Hood.' this week. We listened carefully to the story, drew our own story maps, and acted out the fairy tale. We also had a great time making baskets and cakes for Grandma in the craft area! The children also carefully considered and shared their favourite parts of the story with their friends.

In phonics, we have learned the sounds 'y, z, qu and ch'  We love saying the rhymes as we write the letters! The children have been given a letter formation sheet, which helps to reinforce the work they have been doing in school. There is no need to return the sheet to school, so please just do what you can and when you can. Feel free to use your imagination to practise letter formation (writing with paint, foam or even writing in the mud with a twig, etc.)  This week, we learned the tricky word 'she' and 'he.'

Ralph, our reading bear, has gone to visit his third home! Someone will take Ralph home for a week every Monday to read stories to him. Your child could read a favourite story or their home reader. There is no need to record any reading your child does with Ralph; simply enjoy.

We were shape superstars in maths, exploring circles and triangles. The children used lots of wonderful language to describe the shapes’ properties - corners, points, sides, round etc. We also enjoyed going on a shape hunt and identifying circles and triangles in our surroundings. We then documented our findings with photos taken on iPads and 2D shapes drawn on paper. The children have been given a 2D shape activity, which helps to reinforce the work they have been doing in school.  There is no need to return the sheet to school, so please just do what you can and when you can. It would be lovely if you could upload a photograph of your child's work to Evidence Me so we can celebrate their learning.

This week's 'Wellie Walk' was a lot of fun. We took our hedgehogs outside and built them a safe haven for hibernation. The children read them lovely stories before they went to sleep.

The children continue to enjoy singing our Christmas Nativity songs. We have had a great time this week making props for our play.

We hope that you have a lovely weekend,
