Year 5 National Poetry Day (7.10.21)

Hi everyone!

Just a quick update from the week just gone.

Year 5 have been doing so much over the last few weeks- including Pop Art, Anglo-Saxons and Vikings topic work, Life Cycles in Science, The Highwayman and Beowulf in Literacy.

As it was National Poetry Day on Thursday 7th, we spent the week learning, sharing and writing poems, as well as completing work around the NPD 2021 Theme 'Choices'.

We wrote poems called 'Dream Day'- some examples will be uploaded next week :)

The poem we learned as a class was called 'The Story of Squiddly Diddly' by Theodora Shillito, and it was all about the importance of recycling to save our oceans and the precious creatures that live in them.

We got to perform our poem in NPD Assembly, alongside all of the other classes in school. It was very special to celebrate together!
