Summer 2- Week 3

Date: 21st Jun 2024 @ 8:02am

Hi everyone,

What a busy week we have had!

First and foremost, we are extremely proud of the children's participation in Sports Day. We had a wonderful afternoon and I am sure you will agree that they were amazing!

This week’s focus story was ‘Topsy and Tim go on Holiday’ written by authors, Gareth Adamson and Jean Adamson. After reading the story, we discussed why airports exist, how they look, and our personal experiences with airports and flying, and discovered that many of us had flown to Spain. We were thrilled to have Oscar B’s mum, a Spanish teacher, visit us and teach us all about Spain, including how to speak basic Spanish. On Thursday, we had a lot of fun sampling some Spanish food, including paella and patatas bravas. We then documented our knowledge of Spain by creating fact files on the country.

In phonics, we continued to review all previously taught sounds and worked hard to develop our independence when writing sentences.

In maths, we expanded our understanding of patterns by creating our own pattern rules and learning how to explain them to others. Additionally, we practised our number formation.

During Wellie Walk, we had a great time making paper aeroplanes and throwing them to see who could fly the furthest.

We wish you a happy and restful weekend,

The Reception Team
