Spring Term 2 - Week 5

Date: 21st Mar 2024 @ 1:11pm

Hi everyone,

What another busy week!

This week, we read Eric Carle's story 'The Hungry Caterpillar’. The children had fun writing shopping lists and printing caterpillars made of 2D shapes. We also enjoyed learning about caterpillars and other minibeasts.  Next week, we will be going on a minibeast hunt. Watch this space!

We are also enjoying using magnifying glasses to watch our five hungry caterpillars as they grow. We eagerly await the chrysalis transformation!

In phonics, we have been practising writing sentences and revising all of the letter sounds we have learned so far. Next week, we will begin learning Level 4 tricky words and practise reading longer words.

In maths, we continued to learn about the number 10.  We had a great time singing 'Ten Green Bottles' and enjoyed representing number bonds up to ten using numicon and part-part wholes.

Last but not least, we have also been busy getting ready for next week's Easter church service, which involves the whole school.

We wish you a happy and restful weekend,

The Reception Team
