Good morning Reception smiley

How are you feeling today? Did you have a good weekend?

If you had been in school, this would have been the last week before you broke up for your 2 week Whit Holiday. As you should be on holiday next week and the week after -  I won't blog or set any activities as it is holiday time, so this is the last week of activities, before you can have a well deserved rest.

Special Sound of The Day

Who knows what I am going to say about our special sound of the day? That's right! Rosie and our friend Fred are back this morning with some new sounds for us to practise. Don't forget to join Rosie for writing practise too. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ/videos

Story of The Week

This week we are going to be reading a story about a very wiggly creature! Can you guess what creature I am talking about? You can find them in your garden. That's right Reception, we are going to read a story about a very special worm. Infact, he is a SUPER worm! If you have this book at home, why don't you go and find it. Make sure you're all nice and comfortable and cosy before we start our story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Jnk3XApKBg

Did you enjoy the story? Can you talk to your grown up about your favouite part?

Maths

This weeks maths activities are based around our story, 'Superworm'. Today, you will need some paper, some paint and some string or wool. https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Day-1-Superworm.pdf Are you ready to make some Superworm patterns.

Can you say the superworm chant as you make your patterns? Have a practise now, 'Superworm is super-long. Superworm is super-strong. Watch him wiggle see him squirm. Hip Hip Horray for Superworm'

Can you spot some rhyming words in the chant? Which words rhyme? Listen carefully, as you say it!

Can you describe your worm patterns? Are some worms longer or shorter than others? are some worms the same size? Can you compare your wiggly worms?

Fresh Air

While you are outside today, see if you can spot a worm in your garden? If you are lucky enough to find one, have a close look at it. What does it look like? Can you describe the worm to your grown up? Can you draw a picture of it? Maybe, you could take a photograph of the worm?

You could even write a sentence about the worm? Think about using some lovely describing words in your sentences.

Here, is a little video. This video will help you find out a little bit more about worms. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7O40A-6Jmt4

Sing and Sign

We all know a song about a wiggly worm. Can you remember it, sing it out loud and make sure to sign along smiley
