Home Learning Tuesday 9th June

Date: 7th Jun 2020 @ 8:44pm

Hello Year 3

Now did you work hard yesterday? I hope that you did!

I'm starting today with a fun fact. Did you know that June 9th is National Donald Duck Day! (June 9th is Donald Duck's birthday.) For a bit of fun - can you find out what Donald Duck's middle name is? Do you know his girlfriend's name and can you tell me the names of his 3 nephews? If you know the answers, why not message me on the class blog on Purple Mash. smiley

Reading Comprehension:

I have attached two reading comprehension activities to the blog today. They won't take you long to do, but I think that you will find them really useful. One activity will help you to improve your retrieval skills - how quickly can you find the answers in the text? The second activity will help you to become better at summarising the key points in a text. This is tricky to do, but is a very important skill to have.

Science:

If you had been in school, we would have been learning all about plants. I have attached a PowerPoint to the blog that teaches you all about the different parts of a plant and explains the different jobs that they do. The PowerPoint includes three separate activities to do - I have attached these to the blog. Next week, I will upload some more Science work about plants, so it will be just like learning in school. laugh

Bitesize Home Learning:

English: Today's lesson is all about alphabetical order. Lots of you found this difficult when we explored alphabetical order in class, so this would be a great activity to do.

Maths: The lesson today builds upon yesterday's work on equivalent fractions. The lesson also teaches you how to simplify fractions - turning them into their smallest equivalent form. It is a little tricky, but if you have been learning your tables - you will find this task much easier. wink If you enjoy learning about Equivalent Fractions, have a go at FRACTIONS TO GO on Education City as an additional challenge.

You don't need to complete the Geography task as you learn all about biomes in Y5. (Biomes are the different areas on our planet with similar climates, landscape, animals and plants e.g. a desert or rainforest)  Have a go at the Science work on plants that I have attached instead.

Finally, I want to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to the following children  Heidi, Adelaide, Liam, Jacob R and Evan who are the top five Year 3 children on the Rockstars' Leaderboard. Well done children! It is great to see 2 girls up there with the boys yes

That's all for today.

I'll be back tomorrow. Be good and work hard smiley

P.S Why not have a go at the School Games Design a Logo Competition too. Miss Davies has included all of the information on our class blog.

P.P.S If you are missing our art work together, don't worry - I've got a lovely activity/project for you to take part in next week.  yes
