Coronavirus Home Learning Information

Coronavirus Home Learning Information for Parents

Unfortunately, due to the current outbreak of Coronavirus, our school has had to follow government guidance and will be shut from Friday evening to ensure all children, staff and parents are safe and well.

The Secretary of State for Education has asked that schools remain open to provide care, if needed, for the children of key workers (details to be published later); those children with Education Health Care Plans and children who are deemed vulnerable. These children can attend school as normal on Monday.

As educators, we are committed to ensuring your child has an education, regardless of the circumstances. With this in mind, we have prepared HOME LEARNING PACKS for your children to work on from home. These packs contain a mix of pencil and paper activities; additional reading resources; project work and online resources. Packs will be sent home tonight.

Each day, your child's teacher will post a short blog to ensure they are keeping in touch with the children in their classes and, if school remains closed for a prolonged period of time, will ensure that any additional work is shared. Please keep checking your child's class blog for further information.

You will find, listed below,  information about the different websites and services we use at school and can therefore recommend to you and your children to use during this time.

Purple Mash - https://www.purplemash.com/

Purple Mash is a site we use often at school, so the children are secure at navigating it independently. We use Purple Mash for a variety of tasks, but the main use is for computing. On Purple Mash, children can play games, access tasks set by the teacher and work on activities. Children will have received their logins for Purple Mash as part of their resource packs. Should the isolation period be extended, Purple Mash would be one of the ways in which we would continue to provide work for the children via the 2do button.

Education City - https://www.educationcity.com/

Education City is another website which your child should be very familiar with. It is another site we use to set work for the children. Your child's teacher may use this to set work electronically for maths, literacy and science. Again, your child's login details were sent home as part of the resource pack so they can access the site at home.

Times Tables Rock Stars - https://ttrockstars.com/

This is a new site we have recently signed up to, which is good to help children develop their times tables knowledge. It also has a sister site called FUNBOTS, which is good for the mathematical development of younger children, or for those who are not as confident with maths. On these sites, children do not need to be set work- they simply log in and play. Children can try to beat their own scores and they can challenge their friends (and their teacher!) to try and beat it, too.
