Y5 Science Week...

Date: 26th Jun 2019 @ 10:39pm

Science Assembly

To start the week off, we had a fantastic assembly which was run by Science2u.

They brought in lots of different experiments and got people involved with some crazy chemistry. Who knew that chemicals could make so many noises and cause so many different reactions!? We even made slime!

Robo Workshops!

We had an amazing time constructing our own robots too.

Jessie showed us how to make robots that avoided obstacles, in groups.

The robots had eyes and were able to detect something in their way and move around it.

We worked so well with lots of resilience as we weren’t given many instructions so that we could learn how to do it ourselves, and debug any problems we had!

KS2 Science Quiz

Matthew, Mark, Luke and John house all took part in a Key Stage 2 Science ‘University Challenge’ style quiz- it was great fun!

Junk Modelling

We also got to use some junk to make our own ‘Futuristic Transport’, where we used lots of different materials to use our imagination and come up with a mode of transport that will be used in the year 3000!

We still have much more to do. More pictures coming soon!

Lego building

We had a fun morning constructing Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths themed lego models!

Crazy Scientist/ Robot Dressing up

Lots of us dressed up as crazy scientists and robots!

Scientists, inventors and inventions

We went into the cyberlab and research some scientists/ inventors and their inventions.

We wrote a short biography about the person we chose.

We then answered quiz questions about who invented what, such as the telephone and plastic...

Finally...

We had a fantastic assembly to finish our wonderful week of Science and Technology  off!
