Welcome Back!

Date: 23rd Apr 2018 @ 4:33pm

Hi all,

Welcome back to Summer Term!  The last term in the infants for Y2.  It looks set to be another busy term.

Our new topic is "Hot and Cold" and we are beginning by looking at the continent of Africa and some of the animals that live on that continent.  We are going to compare Billinge with a village called Chereponi in Ghana.

Come and See

We planned a Collective Worship in groups and decided to worship outside this time.  It was lovely on Thursday morning with the sun shining, thanking God for all the opportunities that come our way.

Our new topic is "Spread the Words " where we will be learning about Pentecost with Miss Simm our trainee teacher.

Literacy

We completed our diaries, sharing what we did over the Easter Break.  After that we started looking at some non-fiction texts about Africa and African animals.  We used the books to write out some questions we wanted to find the answers to, for example: How long do elephants live for?  Why do giraffes have such long necks? etc  We are going to use this information and collate it into a report about African Animals.

Maths

In maths lessons we had lots of fun exploring position, direction and movement using language such as half and quarter turn, left and right, north, south, east and west.

Maths Club was fun on Tuesday night - I think we enjoyed doing the tally of our favourite biscuits the best!  We worked in small groups practising our reasoning skills.

We started our new topic, "Hot and Cold" with Mrs Clarke on Thursday and Friday.

See you all next week
