Good Morning Year 4!

Did you have a good day yesterday? I hope you managed to spend some time outside before the rain came!

How did you get on with the teeth and digestive system activities yesterday? Could you remember a lot about them? Today’s science lesson on BBC Bitesize is focussing on teeth and the digestive system so have a look and remind yourself all about the different organs and their functions. For extra information have a look at the PowerPoints I have attached to this blog. My challenge for you this week is to spend some time over the next few days creating an informative text, poster or PowerPoint describing the different parts of the digestive systems and their main functions. You can be as creative as you like in how you present your information. I will post some activities each day to help you.

Today’s maths lesson is looking at ordering fractions. This means looking carefully at the numbers and putting them in ascending (getting bigger) or descending (getting smaller) order. I have attached a PowerPoint that explains how to do this efficiently and an activity to have a go at. The answers are also attached so that you can mark your work once you have finished.

The English lesson today is looking at how to remember a poem off by heart. If you would rather write a poem of your own have a look at the PowerPoint I have attached that explains how to write a haiku. A haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. Haikus do not need to rhyme but they do require a particular pattern of syllables.

Syllables are the separate beats/parts of words. Ball has 1 syllable, clever has 2 syllables and enormous has 3 syllables.

Once you have looked at the PowerPoint have a go at the activity and see if you can write a haiku of your own.

If you complete any of these activities send me a picture of your work via email. I love looking at the hard work you are doing at home. Today I had emails from Reggie and Florence. Reggie has been working hard on a Friends poem and a Water Safety poster – super work Reggie! Florence has completed the challenge activity from yesterday’s digestive system activity and found out all about the large intestine- well done Florence! Have a look at their work, I have attached it to this blog.

Finally, remember to keep reading and practising your times tables every day.

Have a lovely day and I will talk to you again tomorrow.

Miss Gradwell

P.S. I have attached another poem I like for you to read. It is called The Crocodile by Roald Dahl and it is quite comical. I hope you enjoy it!
