Hi everyone! This is Mrs Naylor and Year 6 (those of us who are in school, anyway!)

Hello from us all. We hope you are working as hard as we are. Yesterday, we did some really challenging maths activities based around BIDMAS. See if you can answer some of these questions!

1. 264 + 82 - 112

2. 506 - 3 + (92 - 49)

3. 73 + 208 - 82

Some of us found them really challenging and didn't believe that they were Year 6 questions (believe me- they are!) We worked through three pages of these questions and didn't stop complaining the whole time!

During some spare time, we have been watching some short video clips of a programme called 'Spy in the Wild'. If you get chance, have a look at some of them- this is the link https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000dlxj. Here is what we had to say about the clips we've seen...

Olivia

"I rate it a 5 star because it is the funniest thing ever. I recommend you watch the tortoise one. Also, if you are in a bad mood, this will cheer you up in no time. Make sure you watch Spy in the Wild and stay safe."

Georgina

"Spy in the Wild is hilarious and I would give it ten out of ten."

Caitlin

"Spy in the Wild is also animals that have cameras in their eyes so they spy on others. There are also animals in the sea that have cameras. It's fun and interesting."

Logan

"It's fun to watch. 10/10."

Yesterday's riddle:

Yesterday, I set you another riddle to solve. This was it...

Where can you see cities, towns and countries but no people?

The answer is... A MAP!

Today's riddle has been chosen by the Year 6 children currently in school (Caitlin, Myla, Logan, Olivia, Abby, Cameron, Georgina, Ava S, Chloe, Hope and Kate).

Here it is!

There are three houses. One is white, one is blue and one is red. If the red house is to the left of the middle house and the blue house is to the right of the middle house, where is the white house?

Check back tomorrow for the answer!

Today, we are continuing to learn about refugees as it is currently refugee week. We are going to be learning a little about asylum seekers today. Here is a video clip that you can watch, which will explain the term in a way you should easily understand. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1E_tiagn8Q

We are also going to write a letter to a refugee, explaining what life is like in our country and what school is like. This is your task for today, too.

Don't forget to mention in your letter how your safety is taken into account at all times (think about doors that lock, pedestrian crossings, seatbelts in cars, fire alarms in buildings, police patrolling and checking people abide by the law, government passing laws to protect us, etc).

As well as this task, why not go onto Purple Mash and have a read of something on there? The Serial Mash books really do look great and there is something for everyone!

BBC Bitesize

Here are today's lessons...

That's it from us! Have fun taking part in today's home learning and I will be in touch again tomorrow.
