wc 9th November - we 13th November

Date: 13th Nov 2020 @ 8:24am

Hi everyone,

We’ve all had a great week and enjoyed ourselves and as always worked really hard!

This week we’ve joined Joe Wicks and completed our daily energiser activities for Children In Need. Thanks for all the donations you have sent in via the Just Giving page. We have been thinking about lots of ways to stay healthy and happy in both body and mind and watched the programmes from the BBC “Five To Thrive” series.  I have attached some photos from the week for you all to have a look.

We have begun our “Preparations” topic as part of our Come and See RE syllabus and have been thinking about some of the special preparations we make at this time of the year. We know Christmas might look a little different in school this year but we have lots of ideas for how we can celebrate together in class.  Watch this space!

We have made loads of progress with Addition and Subtraction and are becoming quite adept at using efficient methods to solve a range of calculations. Did you know we are very clever in Y2?

We are continuing to learn our ten times tables  - multiplication and division facts. Some of us are enjoying playing on Times Tables Rockstars.  This has been set up for the tens initially and then will progress to the twos and fives times tables. From Monday 16th November I have set a two times tables challenge on Purple Mash 2Do, this is the times table we will be focusing on after the tens. After that will come the fives times tables.

In our Literacy lessons we have been focusing on grammar this week and talking lots about nouns, adjectives and verbs. We spotted the different types of words and language used in “The Highway Rat” and on Thursday all took part in a big class read, looking at the way we use expression in our reading and how the punctuation can help with this. We also looked at some of the features in the text such as italics and talked about why and when the author might choose to put the text into italics.  Didn’t I tell you how clever we all are!

Well done to our Class Award winners this week.  Many children in the class have achieved “Superstar Status” this week for their excellent attitude to learning.  See the Newsletter for all the details of the individual winners this week.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend and I will see you on Monday.
