Hi all,

We are fully immersed in our Christmas preparations here in Y2.  Rehearsals for our Nativity are well underway and we are all busy learning our song and dance routines and practising our lines. We have made a start on our Christmas Crackers ready to go on sale at our annual Christmas Fayre.

Come and See

Thank you to those children who brought into school some momentoes from their Baptism, it was lovely sharing stories and looking at photographs.  We have been writing about how a baby is welcomed into God's Family this week.

Mathematics

Addition has been the big story this week.  Looking at different ways of how we can add larger numbers, using lots of different methods.  We have all been working really hard.

Literacy

We have been looking at the text in The Highway Rat and finding all the interesting verbs, nouns and adjectives.  We discussed singular and plural nouns and looked at the spelling of some of these words.  We had lots of fun on Tuesday when Mrs O'Donoghue and Mrs Talbot-Davies took to the Hot Seat to face some questions from the class.  They acted in role as the two sides of the Highway Rat's character - Vengeful Rat or Remorseful Rat?  Now the children have to decide which role they would like to be and write a letter to the plucky young duck from the story. (Photos to follow).

Topic

We have been learning about Remembrance in our lessons with Mrs Williamson.  As part of our scinece work we planted some poppy seeds.  Next week we are going to continue to learn about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot.

Bye Bye smiley
