We have had a very exciting week here in Y2, starting with our trip to Knowsley Safari Park, followed by our trip to Billinge library and finishing with a full day of art on Friday!

All of Y2 were excellently behaved and they were fantastic representatives for our school, a full blog post will follow soon detailing all of the exciting things we did.

In Maths this week Y2 have been focusing on weight, the children estimated and weighed lots of food items using the balance scales. They worked hard and made some really good guesses!

In Literacy we have been continuing our poetry focus and the children have had a go at writing desert oasis poems, they described beautifully all of the things they might see, hear and touch in the desert. We worked hard on including multiple poetry devices to make our poems as interesting as possible; we used exciting vocabulary, expanded noun phrases, adjectives, alliteration and similes.

In Art this week the children have been continuing with their weaving from last week (sneak preview in the photos), we are definitely getting quicker! We have also started our African animal batik designs, a technique involving using hot wax (or in our case PVA) on cloth to create the equivalent of a wax resist.

Happy weekend,

The Y2 team :)
