Good Morning Year 4!

Did you take part in the music lesson yesterday? If anyone created their own instrument send a picture into school, I would love to see your inventions.

Today’s BBC Bitesize maths lesson asks you to use your knowledge of angles from yesterday’s lesson. You will be looking at ordering and comparing angles based on their size. Remember that an acute angle is smaller than a right angle and an obtuse angle is larger than a right angle. I have attached a PowerPoint and an activity to help you practise this.

The English lesson is focussing on the features of a newspaper report. Can you remember any of the features from when we have written newspaper reports in class? When you are writing a newspaper report, you should:

  • Include a short and snappy headline (title).
  • Write a sentence at the start to sum up what the story is about.
  • Write in the third person (he, she, they).
  • Write in the past tense (as if it has already happened).
  • Use paragraphs to make the text clear and easy to understand.
  • Include quotes (other people’s thoughts and opinions about the subject).
  • Include facts about what has happened using the 5 Ws: what, where, when, who, why?

I have attached a checklist of features found in a newspaper report to this blog along with an example newspaper report. Can you use the checklist to identify the main features within the report?

Today’s Art Week lesson is an art lesson looking at Aboriginal and African art. Both of these types of art use line painting and symbols. The lesson will explain how to use line painting to create a piece of artwork of your own. If you do create a piece of artwork send me a picture in an email.

Keep working hard and have fun!

I will talk to you again tomorrow.
