Thursday 9th July

Date: 8th Jul 2020 @ 7:07pm

Good Morning Year 4!

Can you believe it is Thursday again already? Only 2 more days of work before the weekend. Have you completed any artwork this week based on the BBC Bitesize lessons? If you have I would love to see it. Remember you can send your work into me using the school email address stmaryrcbp@sthelens.org.uk.

For those of you enjoying listening to Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone chapters thirteen and fourteen are now available to listen to.

Today’s BBC Bitesize English lesson is looking at how to write a newspaper report. Look back at Tuesday’s blog to remind yourself what should be included in a newspaper article and have another look at the PowerPoint from Tuesday which explains what to include in a newspaper article. You can also use the checklist from Tuesday’s blog to check your writing includes everything it should to be a brilliant newspaper report. To help you write a newspaper report I have attached a writing frame to this blog. I have also attached a dice activity that will help you to create an event to write about. If you do complete a piece of writing ask your parents to take a photo and email them to school so that I can see your fantastic work.

Maths today is focusing on quadrilaterals. Do you know what a quadrilateral is?

Quadrilaterals are 2D shapes which have 4 straight sides. They have 4 interior angles. Some examples are squares, rectangles and kites. I have attached a PowerPoint to this blog that explains the differences between a selection of different quadrilaterals. I have also attached some activities to help you check your understanding.

(Top Tip: Parallel lines are always the same distance apart for their entire length. Perpendicular lines cross each other at right angles.)

Today’s arts week lesson is a music lesson. The focus of this lesson is how and why singing makes us feel good. After this lesson why not spend some time listening to your favourite songs and singing along to them.

As it is Thursday I have another art lesson for you. Using the techniques from last week can you create an observational drawing? Have a look at the PowerPoint I have attached to the blog and use the guidance sheet attached to create your own drawing.

Keep working hard. Take care and I will talk to you again tomorrow.

Miss Gradwell

P.S. Have a look at the fantastic work Florence has done with her brother Beau. They have been thinking about all of the people who have cared for us in our community.
