Hello again, Year 6!

Are we all ok? I hope so! Not too sunburnt, I hope. The weather is going to be beautiful again today, so don't forget to slap on that suncream and drink plenty of water. yes

How are you getting on with the Sports4Kids challenges? Today's challenge is sock boccia: I have absolutely no idea what that is but it sounds brilliant! Please send me some photographs of yourself completing this challenge if you can, so I can share them on our blog. I hope you're enjoying sports week and getting a lot from it. If nothing else, it's great fun to challenge yourself and have a bit of fun.

Yesterday, in school, we continued to look at Mimi Revencu's art. I made the children a viewfinder (like a little empty photoframe) and they used it to choose an aspect of Mimi's work and recreate it on a different sheet. This might be a fun activity for you to try at home! Mimi's work is brilliant because it is so vibrant and colourful, but the beauty of it is that it isn't perfect. I'm sure you've noticed when looking at her paintings how her lines haven't been drawn with rulers- she hand draws them so they are much more natural and organic. In school, we have been discussing the formal elements of art, such as line, shape, tone, colour and pattern. I have attached a picture to the blog so you can have a little look at the formal elements. Next time you look at Mimi's work, see if you can look for the formal elements mentioned in the picture.

Today's BBC Bitesize:

English: Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet

Design and technology: Iterative design

Maths: Calculating the volume of cubes and cuboids

I particularly like the sound of the Literacy lesson on Romeo and Juliet! heart

Did any of you take part in the 24/7 writing challenge yesterday? We completed it in school and found it tricky to fit our stories into just 24 words. We also found the time restrictions difficult, but in the end, we produced some great stories! I have attached a list of our stories on the blog for you to read.

I hope you are managing to stay busy and complete some of the items from the list I posted on Monday. Please don't forget to keep reading and practising those times tables- I can't emphasise this enough. Your brain needs to constantly be exposed to times tables and reading, otherwise it will become a bit rusty and you won't be as good as you were when you were in school and it was a daily task!

Speak to you all again tomorrow (nearly Friday!)

Mrs Naylor heart

Ps. I have attached photographs of Maizie and Deacon's sports challenge and Beau's brilliant science work on inherited traits. Well done to you both! If anyone else has work they'd like to share, please send it in. It is always lovely to hear from you.
