THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON!

Date: 11th Feb 2022 @ 3:08pm

Well as the half term draws to a close, it is important to share with you all what a wonderful half term this has been for the children of Y1, learning all about The Great Fire of London back in 1666.  This half term, the children have learnt fascinating facts about the fire, have designed and built their own Tudor Houses, written fact files about Samuel Pepys, learnt to play rhythmical accompaniments to London's Burning, created silhouette skylines of the night of the fire and even written their own diary entries as if they were Samuel Pepys on the night that the fire started on Pudding Lane.  Phew!  They've been so busy!

The children have enjoyed every minute of this topic (as have we) and it is wonderful that we were given the opportunity today to celebrate the success of this topic by recreating Pudding Lane on fire, here on our playground at school!  Mrs Hymers gave the consent and even re-created the fire (along with the help of other brave members of staff) for the children to watch.  It was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!  It proved a little tricky at first but the fire soon took hold and the smell of burning flames soon drifted into the air.

Take a look at the photos and videos below as proof that this REALLY did happen and the fun that we had!!!!
