Settling in Y2

Date: 26th Sep 2019 @ 7:33am

Hi all,

Well routines are all firmly established and we've all made an excellent start to Y2.  The children have been happy coming into class and are working hard, showing lots of passion and enthusiam for all aspects of school life.

Come and See

We're almost at the end of our first topic and the children have produced some lovely work.  This "Beginnings" topic is a lsuper way of starting the new academic year.  On Tuesday we welcomed parents, grandaparents, friends and carers to our "Stay and Pray"  - it was a really special time and the children loved sharing their worship time with their families.  In class the children are busy planning their own worhsip to celebrate the end of this topic.

It has been great to witness just how much the children in Y2 love reading! Our two class Reading Bedtime Bears have been hugely popular and each week two children are taking "Rosie and Sam" home for a week to read a bedtime story to each evening.  We had lots of fun coming up with names for our bears!

"Show and Share" on a Tuesday afternoon is an opportunity for the children to bring in a favourite book from home to share with the class.  We talk about popular authors, why we like them, our favourite types of books - anything at all really to do with our love of books!

Next week we are going to vote for our "Class Reading Beacon"  someone to champion reading in our class who has a real love of books and would like to be an ambassador for reading throughout the school. It's also "National Poetry Week" next week so look out for upcoming events!

Bye for now  - the Y2 Team
