Reception News

Hello everyone,

We read the story Whatever Next by Jill Murphy this week. Baby Bear flew his rocket into our classroom. He brought some snacks, a helmet and even some space boots! In the story, Baby Bear travelled to the moon in his rocket for a picnic with his new friend Mr Owl. This made us wonder about how we make new friends and what makes a good friend. So, in our writing this week we wrote some invitations and invited our friends to our very own space picnic. In our invitations we wrote kind words to our friends.

We have been busy planning our ‘moon picnic’ picnic all week. Some of our teddy bear friends could not fit on our picnic blanket, so we split our picnic into two groups. We talked about which group had more/less bears or if they were the same.

Lost Belongings

I know lots of belongings have gone ‘walkabout’ recently, I do really apologise. But thank you for your patience. As you can imagine, rounding up 26 children’s jumpers, coats, hats, gloves, bags and bottles each afternoon is short of a miracle, we often find the missing culprit the next day; left at the back of the children’s boxes, hung on a peg, hidden in PE bags or taken home by mistake by another child.

We currently have sports clubs running where the children get changed in different rooms and halls. We think this is where clothing is getting mixed up or left. We are in the process of checking all PE bags of the children in these clubs, please bear with us, they might turn up there.

Please could you do a little check to make sure that names are clearly identifiable and rewrite if necessary.

You are more than welcome to pop into Reception class after all the children have been dismissed to have a look for things in the cloak room.

Phonics

Please continue to practise phase 2 and new phase 3 sounds that we have learned and tricky words, in particular:
