Home School Y2 Week Beginning 6th July

Well done to those children trying so hard to work at home.  I know it is hard but you are doing so well.  I can see your scores on Education City and Purple Mash and know just how hard you are trying.  Some of you are working through your CGP books and doing your home learning this way - that is great too!  Remember to keep active – last week would have been Sports Day in school, typical because it rained all week so would probably have been cancelled.  Why not make up your own mini sports day or even a mini Oylmpics (sadly another cancelled event!). There are lots of resources on Twinkl around sporting events. Alternatively you could design your own trophies and certificates. Create a running order of events – be as creative as you can!

As in previous weeks I will put a timetable up as a suggested format for the week in place of a daily blog.  This will follow the same pattern  as last week with BBC Bitesize lessons alongside White Rose Maths home learning with some additional Education City MYCITY Homework tasks and Purple Mash 2 Dos.  This will be the pattern for Monday to Wednesday and then Mrs Ryan will set some topic based tasks for Thursday and Friday.

Phonics Bloom is an interactive website with lots of fun games for children to practise their letters and sounds (phonics) and will help with the consolidation of the Phase 5 Sounds we have been learning throughout the year. Use this to recap on previous rules taught this year.

Very Important to note:

This week’s lessons takes lessons from 29th June on BBC Bitesize and White Rose.

For those of you who want to print out I have sometimes added the worksheet, but there is no need to do this as it practises the same skills and content as the screen activity. (This is on MYCITY)

This term many of the activities will be consolidation and revision of topics and concepts taught in previous terms so there should be a high degree of independence with these tasks.

Some interesting websites to find different activities:

The Life Science Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne has scientific activities – life.org.uk/life-goes-online

Collins has free home-learning resources for all ages

Scouts’ The Great Outdoors – offers craft ideas

Homeschool History – for those of you who love all things historical – brings history to life with facts and jokes.  On BBC iPlayer bbc.co.uk/programmes
