Home Learning, Week 6, Day 4

Date: 14th May 2020 @ 6:46am

Good morning Year 1!

It is another beautiful morning and I hope you are all feeling happy and well. smiley

My first question to ask you this morning is "when did you last read a book?"  I am hoping that your answer will either be "last night" or "this morning" as you need to be reading EVERY day!  If it's been a while since you picked up a book and read, then make today that day!

Today's learning:

BBC Bitesize:

English (literacy) - To be able to correctly use exclamation marks in sentences.  This lesson includes:a video to help you understand exclamation marks and three activities to do at home.  I have also added a powerpoint all about exclamation marks for you to look at first. yes

Maths - As well as keeping on working on money, looking at the different value of each coin, BBC Bitesize also has a lesson on learning how to compare number sentences involving addition and subtraction using the greater than, less than and equal symbols.  This lesson includes two videos and three activities.

Design and Technology - You are all amazing at building models in Year 1 (remember our Tudor houses?)  Well there is some information today on how to improve your designing and creating skills even further, about designing and modelling.  This lesson includes two video clips demonstrating designing and modelling and two activities to try at home.  Have a look; I think you'll enjoy it!

Purple Mash - Once again, I would like you to have a look at Purple Mash and make sure you have completed as many activities as possible.  There are a couple of new ones on there as well.

Reading: I am going to be setting you some work to do all to do with the book The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch from tomorrow and into next week, so I would like you to read (or find the book on youtube) it again before I give you the work.  Remember to think about:

Characters - who is the main the character and who are the other characters?

Plot - what happens at the beginning, middle and end of the story?

Setting - where does the story take place?

I will sign off now as I am getting ready to go and meet the children at Keyworker School.  Today, we are celebrating National Nurses Week, just like I did with KS2 yesterday.  The children might hear something about Florence Nightingale, which I think will please them! laugh

Have a lovely day Year 1; enjoy some exercise inbetween your work and keep up with all your home learning!
