Hello Y2

Date: 14th Sep 2017 @ 8:10am

Welcome back everyone!

What a busy start we've had in Y2! It's only the second week in and we all feel like we've been in Y2 forever. Everyone has settled in and enjoyed starting the new term.

During our first week back we talked about what makes our school special and we created some posters around our school values. We looked again at our Mission Statement and discussed what is really means to follow in Jesus' footsteps.  In our assembly this week we listened to a story about "Bucket Fillers" and how we can all be bucket fillers.  In class we shared our ideas and discussed how we are going to celebrate the bucket fillers in our class each week.

House point rewards have been coming thick and fast and the top ten house point scorers by the end of term will have a reward afternoon.

In Come and See we enjoyed taking part in role plays about new beginnings and shared our thoughts and feeling about how new beginnings can make us feel.

Our topic this hald term is "Passport to the World" and we listened to a story by Caroline Binch called "Gregory Cool".  Gregory travels to Tobago to see his grandparents and has lots of new beginnings and "firsts".  We played a game called "What's in the suitcase?" trying to guess the items you would need for a holiday and then we acted out some different holiday scenarios.  We learnt how holidays are usually fun but sometimes unexpected events can occur!  We are going to be doing lots of writing around the theme of holidays.

In maths we have been counting and looking at properties of numbers, trying to understand how numbers are made up from tens and ones.  We have been practising lots of "reasoning" questions where we have to try and work out the answer and then explain our findings.  It can be quite tricky.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
