Christmas Fun!

Date: 20th Dec 2020 @ 11:36am

What a fun-filled final week we have had in Year 4!

We spent time this week reflecting on the true meaning of Christmas in our RE topic. We learnt about the Advent Wreath and the meaning of the 4 candles which are lit every Sunday during Advent. We explored the hope, love and joy the the birth of Jesus brings to Christians and we looked at the different ways Christians prepare for Christmas.

We had a fantastic Christmas fun day on Tuesday. We spent the morning in our flute lesson practising a Christmas song then made Christmas cards. In the afternoon we played Christmas games such as Pin the Nose on Rudolph, charades and a festive Would you Rather before taking part in selection box bingo. The day was ended with our Christmas Movie Night! The children ejoyed drinks and popcorn while watching The Christmas Chronicles.

Throughout the rest of the week we took part in Christmas themed activities in Maths and English and created some lovely festive artwork which the children have brought home to share with you.

On Friday we took part in a Christmas Quiz and finished the term with our Children's Choice afternoon which the children have been working hard to earn all term.

Have a look at the pictures below to see some of the Christmas activities we have been completing in class. On Christmas Eve a video of the children playing Jingle Bells on their flutes will be uploaded to the Christmas at St Mary's tab along with our KS2 Sings Christmas video.

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and I look forward to seeing everyone again in the New Year when we will be beginning our Rotten Romas topic!
