Hello again!

Nice to see you all back on my blog!

Here are a few things that Y5 have been up to lately:

RE:

The children have been finishing off their first Come and See topic, 'Ourselves'- they completed their assessments and have been learning all about how we can worship God at home, as well as in school.

We have had lots of time to reflect in our daily Collective Worship's, too.

Literacy:

Traumatising! That is all I can say! The kids enjoyed it, yeah, but personally- waking up to crime scene and police tape everywhere, not to mention the blood and weapons (fake of course)...

At least it was all for a good cause- Y5 have begun their Literacy topic based around 'The Highwayman' by Alfred Noyes this week. There were lots of children taking on the role of 'detective' on Thursday, attempting to investigate who the victim/ culprit was!

I will keep you updated with the interesting work they will be doing based on the poem in the coming weeks!

Maths

The children have been exploring negative numbers and doing lots of problem solving and reasoning involving place value over the past couple of weeks.

On to addition and subtraction next week!

Art:

POP ART- Y5 have been looking at and researching the works of Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein and comparing the two.

They have also been having a go at their own Pop Art pictures, which are going to be put together in an Andy Warhol 'style', with repeated coloured images.

Even more updates coming soon!

Bye :)
